Being Wisbech born and bred and a member of the club for 12 years I think that I can comment fairly on the reign of Paul "Slippery" Lee.
An RSM of a man who has stepped into the breach of leadership when all around him had had enough.
Although a number of players had been captain of the club , Dave Salmon being a notable
example, one of the best players and most respected captains Wisbech has ever had. It if fair to say that Slippery stepped forward at a time of great change to the club. With great respect to the players at Wiz at the moment, it is fair to say that a number of the established flair players had already decided to leave the club.
Slip therefore had to rebuild a team in a very short time and has tried to combine youth with experience. A valuable exercise as in the past many of our great young players plied their trade at other
"bigger" clubs.

Living now as I am in the West Country where rugby is everything, I can still stand up with hand on heart and say that the passion for club rugby in Wiz is as strong as anything Gloucestershire has to offer.
I think that a lot of that passion comes from the skipper , and in regard to that I think Slip has continued with the traditions that have so long proved the best way forward.
When he hangs up his boots and lets pray that it is soon. (He is the only man I know who can rip a muscle while walking his dog!) I think that he can look back on his career with pride.
